What can & can’t go in a skip bin

Not everything can go in a skip bin.
Here’s a quick guide to what’s fine and what needs to be kept out.

What you can put in

General waste and most common materials are fine, including:

  • Household waste

  • Furniture

  • Green waste (branches, leaves, grass)

  • Timber

  • Plastics

  • Cardboard & packaging

  • Renovation waste (tiles, cabinetry, etc.)

  • Small amounts of bricks and concrete

    • Please note all mattresses and bed bases will incur a surcharge of $65 per item inline with tip fees.

The following items are not accepted in general skip bins:

  • Asbestos

  • Chemicals or hazardous waste

  • Paints and solvents

  • Oils and fuels

  • Gas bottles

  • Batteries

  • Tyres

  • Liquid waste

  • Medical or clinical waste

What can’t go in

A couple of things to note

  • Heavy materials like bricks and concrete may need a specific bin type

  • Overfilling bins (above the rim) isn’t allowed for transport safety

  • If you’re unsure about something, it’s always best to check first
